Honor Flight Mission

Honor Flight: 19.10.2013, 20:00 hrs., Palm Beach International Airport.

Such missions to honor our Greatest Generation are always very special and touching for everyone involved, and especially for the Vets themselves.  This particular mission was also dedicated to Jack ‘Angel’ Regan, a fallen member of the Patriot Guard Riders who tragically lost his life while on the way to an Honor Guard mission last month on the Treasure Coast.  Jack’s legacy with the PGR will never be forgotten, and I just know he was there last night.

And what a night it was.  No less than 1500 local Patriots; moms, dads, veterans and current military, and boys and girls came out and just lined the entire terminal to honor 83 brave WWII heroes.  Looking around, I didn’t see a dry eye in the house as the marching bagpipes corps, cheering crowd, and cheer leader squad greeted these amazing men as they came through the terminal.  Like many of the others, I shook as many of their hands and personally greeted as many of them as I could.  Please click for a brief video of the event.

Before our heroes arrived I walked around and had the chance to chat with a number of the people in the crowd.  There was a group of Cub Scouts from Pack 211 of the Hidden Oaks Elementary School in Lake Worth, and their counterparts from Girl Scout Troop 20570, also from Lake Worth.

I also chatted briefly with Sgt. Coy, Sgt. Averhart, PFC Peguero, PFC Morgan, and new recruit Crawford of the Young Marines of Palm Beach.

A very special young lady by the name of Sophia Irwin explained that her group is sponsoring 'A night with Veterans' on November 20, 2013 at the Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach.  There will be WWII Veterans and a lot of WWII weaponry on display, and all proceeds will go directly to future Honor Flights.  You may gain more information by emailing Mr. David Traill at This email address is being protected from spambots. We at The Patriots Press join all of Palm Beach County and the rest of America in saluting the men and women of our Greatest Generation for their sacrifices during WWII and since, and for their very recent stand against tyranny when the WWII Memorial was closed off to them.
