Strong Tea brewing in VA

Written by Fox News on . Posted in Politics

Publisher's note:  A lot of people like to say that the Tea Party is "on the way out," or has "become irrelevant," and lots of other cliche things.  The reality is, We the People of the Tea Party are stronger than ever, and robust sales of license tags adorned with the Gadsden Flag, (i.e., "don't tread on me") in VA is more proof of that fact.

Fox News:  A Virginia license plate with the Tea Party-embraced “Don’t Tread on Me” logo is a big seller, suggesting the movement remains popular, at least in the state, even after a tough loss in this year’s gubernatorial election.

At least five other states also sell the specialty plates: Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. But in Virginia, the tag ranks No. 2 among such plates approved in the past five years and ninth among more than 200 total.

The tag was issued to roughly 21,800 Virginia-registered vehicles in just the first 20 months of sales, according to state figures reported by The Virginian-Pilot newspaper.

“It is a symbol of frustration … a symbol of disgust with the government,” David Dwyer, a former Hampton Roads Tea Party chairman, told the newspaper.

The sales figures for the “Don’t Tread on Me” plates indicate more than just Tea Party members are buying them, which Dwyer suggests is an indication the movement’s mantra of less-government and no new taxes resonates with many Americans.

Delivery problems?!

Written by Fox News on . Posted in Politics

Publisher's note:  I don't know about any of my readers, but I would find this almost amusing if it weren't for real.  At a time when our country is faced with such weighty matters as out of control national debt, a healthcare crisis, domestic and foreign enemies nipping at our heels, and an administration that sidesteps the Constitution on an almost daily basis; at least one US Senator thinks the most important issue of today is to help his constituents get refunds from UPS because they didn't plan well enough for their packages to get delivered on time for Christmas?!  Really?!  Talk about deflection.  Senator Blumenthal...get your priorities in order!

Fox News:  A U.S. senator is calling on UPS to refund customers whose Christmas packages got caught up in widespread delays.

"In a very real sense, Christmas is on the line," Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said in a written statement Thursday. "I call on UPS to do the right thing and provide refunds to people whose Christmases were a little less cheery as a result of their late deliveries."

The senator said he recognizes the "tremendous work" that UPS, as well as the U.S. Postal Service and FedEx, put in this time of year. However, he said he was "disappointed" to learn so many people in his state and across the country were "left empty-handed" on Christmas.

Both UPS and FedEx were playing catch up Thursday after poor weather and overloaded systems delayed packages that were intended to be delivered in time for Christmas.

Neither company said how many packages were delayed but noted it was a small share of overall holiday shipments. But the problems appear to have affected many parts of the country.

Anti-Tea Party John McCain sides with anti-gov't Ukranians

Written by Fox News on . Posted in Politics

Publisher's note:  Could someone please help me out here?!  Senator John McCain has a history of being on the wrong side of God fearing, Constitution loving, peaceful, American Patriots and the Tea Party and everything we stand for concerning our realistic and justifiable grievances with our over-reaching government, and he has outright blamed us for a lot of bad things.  However, suddenly he has the gonads to support the Ukraine's version of the Tea Party as they protest against their hardline government?!  In the humble opinion of this publisher, it is high time for this senile old jackass to retire.

Fox News:  U.S. Senators John McCain and Chris Murphy joined around 200,000 anti-government protesters in the central square of Ukraine's capital Sunday, threatening sanctions against the government of President Viktor Yanukovych if authorities use more violence to disperse demonstrators.

Anti-government protesters have set up an extensive tent camp in Kiev and erected barricades of snow hardened with freezing water and studded with scrap wood and other junk.

McCain, R-Ariz., and Murphy, D-Conn., joined the anti-government demonstration to express support for them and their European ambitions. The protests began Nov. 21 after Yanukovych announced he was backing away from signing a long-awaited agreement to deepen trade and political ties with the EU and instead focus on Russia, and have grown in size and intensity after two violent police dispersals.

"We are here to support your just cause, the sovereign right of Ukraine to determine its own destiny freely and independently. And the destiny you seek lies in Europe," McCain said during a speech, according to Reuters.

"We ... want to make it clear to Russia and Vladimir Putin that interference in the affairs of Ukraine is not acceptable to the United States,” he added.

China rattling sabers, sounds like N. Korea

Written by Fox News on . Posted in Politics

Publisher's note:  From where I sit, it looks as if the Chi/Coms are testing the waters on a very weak and anti-American US Administration, and will continue to do so regardless of our protests.

Fox News:  A Chinese naval vessel tried to force a U.S. guided missile warship to stop in international waters recently, causing a tense military standoff in the latest case of Chinese maritime harassment, according to defense officials.

The guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens, which recently took part in disaster relief operations in the Philippines, was confronted by Chinese warships in the South China Sea near Beijing’s new aircraft carrier Liaoning, according to officials familiar with the incident.

“On December 5th, while lawfully operating in international waters in the South China Sea, USS Cowpens and a PLA Navy vessel had an encounter that required maneuvering to avoid a collision,” a Navy official said.

“This incident underscores the need to ensure the highest standards of professional seamanship, including communications between vessels, to mitigate the risk of an unintended incident or mishap.”

A State Department official said the U.S. government issued protests to China in both Washington and Beijing in both diplomatic and military channels.

John Kerry; "...Iran Centrifuges Bush's fault."

Written by Fox News on . Posted in Politics

Publisher's note:  I find it at once amazing and hilarious that former President Bush is still being blamed by the current administration and its minions for many of our problems.  This administration has got to step up to the plate and take some responsibility.

Fox News:  Before he paused to allow reporters to ask questions about the nuclear deal with Iran that he had just announced in Geneva, Secretary of State John Kerry seemed to anticipate one line of criticism about the accord -- that it effectively cedes to the Islamic regime the right to enrich uranium, despite half a dozen U.N. Security Council resolutions declaring the activity illegal. And he moved, preemptively, to address it.

"In 2003, when the Iranians made an offer to the former administration with respect to their nuclear program, there were 164 centrifuges," Kerry said in a news conference held in the early hours of Nov. 24. "That offer was not taken. Subsequently, sanctions came in, and today there are 19,000 centrifuges and growing."

In essence, the secretary of State was suggesting the staggering number of centrifuges that Iran now has effectively forced the hand of the P5+1 negotiators at the talks, making the placement of restrictions on Iran's nuclear program the only realistic prospect the negotiators could pursue. Kerry also suggested that had only President George W. Bush done the right thing a decade ago, the United States and its allies in the P5+1 -- Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia -- wouldn't have found themselves in such a precarious negotiating posture.
